I've been fortunate to not have any real joint or muscle pain, but I have several family members and friends who deal with chronic pain and for some it can be unbearable at times. I feel for them. You can look at them and even though they say they're "fine" you know they are in an immense amount of pain.
Young or old, depending on your lifestyle and even the hand you've been dealt (i.e. heredity), you may be or could potentially have some lasting painful muscle / joint ailments. That is why I'm writing this blog post today, I want you to know that I sympathize with you, not because I'm going through the same issue(s) you are, but I know of people close to me who have been in pain for years with no relief, and with this remedy, your muscle / joint pain will subside (effects vary by person).
NOTE: This is not a preventative or a cure, it's merely something topical you can use that's natural and will allow you some relief. No more buying store brand products, you can make this in no time at home with the same desired effects, and best of all it's 100% all natural!
Spicy Foods, Yes, Please!
I don't know about you, but I am a lover of spicy foods; anything with a kick to it, I'm all in :-) But, what some may not know is that the hot peppers you cook with (or eat) include an active ingredient called Capsaicin. Depending on the pepper, this can vary in heat levels and actually has health benefits. I know what you're thinking, "Is she going to want me to eat these hot peppers? " or "I hate anything spicy". Well, you're in luck, you are NOT going to have to ingest anything spicy today, it will just be an ingredient in a product we are making.
Did You Know....
Studies have been conducted and show that incorporating Capsaicin into a pain relief cream (or salve), over time, will help relieve pain associated with arthritis. It won't fully relieve arthritis, but it has been a proven method for long lasting pain relief. In addition to arthritis relief, Capsaicin will give your muscles and joints relief from other pains you might have (temporary or long lasting).
To make this pain relieving salve, it's a 2 part process. Part 1: Infuse the pepper (for this we will be using Cayenne Pepper) into a carrier oil. Part 2: Incorporate the oil into the salve. But, before we begin, lets get our ingredients put together.
** Please make sure to wear gloves while making the salve and do not touch your face / eyes, irritation and a burning sensation will occur if you do. **
Ingredients
8 ounces of olive oil
1 ounce grated bees wax
3 tablespoons cayenne pepper powder
Instructions
(PART ONE)
Infuse the pepper into the oil buy pouring the olive oil into a glass container and stirring in the cayenne pepper.
Let this sit outside in the sun for 2-3 days. This process will infuse the pepper into the oil making the potency of your salve even greater with better results.
NOTE: If you find this to be too strong, skip part one the next time and move on to part two.
(PART TWO)
In a double boiler, fill the bottom pot with an inch or two of water.
Let the water simmer with a slight rolling boil. The heat from the bottom pot will slowly melt the bees wax without "cooking" the mixture.
Then in the top pot, place your infused oil into the pot and stir in the bees wax.
Once everything seems to be at a good consistency, remove the pot from the stove and pour the mixture into your desired container.
NOTE: If you would like a thicker salve, feel free to add in a little more bees wax. To test the consistency, drop a few droplets of your salve onto a cold plate and let sit for a bit, then test.
Directions
The salve can be used no more than 4 times per day, preferably 2-3 times per day. The desired results will vary between person. Long term affects will begin after 1 week of regular use. After the first week, you can adjust the amount you use (less and no more than stated above) based on your personal preferences / pain level. Lastly, the first few times you use the salve, you may notice a mild burning sensation, but don't worry, it's completely normal and your skin / body will acclimate over time.
I have made this salve for all of my family members who suffer with pains, either temporary or long-term and each one of them (varying in ages and genders) loved the results and are constantly calling for another batch.
I hope this helps in your journey for pain relief and as always, if you enjoy this post, share it with your friends and if you have suggestions or want to learn more about a specific topic, drop me a note at jessica@herballyanointed.com.
