The season is almost here; it's a season a lot of us dread but love at the same time....SPRING & ALLERGY SEASON
For those that don't suffer from allergies, consider yourselves lucky! Until last year, I would fight the occasional seasonal allergies, but could never pinpoint what it was that I was allergic to, I just knew that it must have been due to something "in the air". With it being so intermittent, I never felt the need to find remedies to help with the allergies, I would simply deal with it.
However, last year it started getting worse, so I started to narrow down what elements/substances in and around my environment would cause my watery eyes, itching and occasional sneezing fits. After several theories were debunked, I finally found what was causing the majority of my allergic reactions, it was Chamomile. How could such a wonderful herb cause me such grief? All I know is that I didn't want to give up drinking tea with Chamomile as an ingredient, nor did I want to stop using my facial steams with Chamomile. With that being said, the herbalist in me sprang to action and I added an Allergy Relief Drink to my morning and evening regiment:
INGREDIENTS & DIRECTIONS
Add a handful of Stinging Nettle Leaves to a boiling cup of water
Let simmer for about 3-4 minutes
Cool and steep for about 5 minutes
Strain into a cup
Stir in a tablespoon of Local Raw Honey and (2) tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar. Continue stirring until you have a smooth consistency
Enjoy!
NOTE: If you would like it to be a little sweeter, feel free to add a bit more honey or
when you first boil your water, add a few pieces of hibiscus. Hibiscus will not only
add a little sweeter taste it also is packed with vitamin C and has anti-inflammatory
/ anti-oxidants to help with skin allergies.
If you're not familiar with the benefits of Stinging Nettle, Apple Cider Vinegar or Honey, let me enlighten you for a moment :)
BENEFITS OF EACH INGREDIENT RELATING TO ALLERGIES
Stinging Nettle:
Helps reduce inflammation
Prevents histamine from being excessively produced in your body
Helps with Hay Fever
Aids in preventing nasal congestion
Eases itchy skin
Apple Cider Vinegar:
Reduces mucus build-up which contains histamine

Supports lymphatic drainage
Honey:

Anti-inflammatory agents
With any herbal remedy don't expect immediate results, although immediate results could occur (as they did with me), but everyone's body is different. So, within a regiment, you should start seeing (or feeling) results within a few days. And, trust me, the wait will be well worth it!
